›› About The Emotional Freedom Technique - EFT

EFT is a valid part of the growing Energy Psychology movement. It is based on the premise that:

"ALL Negative Emotions are Caused by a Disruption in the Body's Energy System"

EFT is based on the quantum physics viewpoint, that states "all matter is actually composed of energy and consciousness", and that the solid material concept of our bodies is an illusion based largely on our limited "material" perceptual filters, similar to the erroneous assumption that the world is flat, based on our visual perception of the distant horizon.

EFT maintains that whenever something " traumatic" happens to us, we experience a disruption in our energy system and whenever we re-experience excessively negative emotions, what we are really experiencing is the same, or compounded version of this energy disruption pattern. The energy disruption can be triggered by any number of things including what we see, what we hear, what we feel and what we think.

According to EFT, when we balance our energy system related to these negative emotions, the negative emotion is neutralized and will no longer trigger physical or emotional discomfort. In the case of traumatic memories, when EFT is successful, while the memory still exists, it loses it's negative "emotional charge" and produces a state of Emotional Freedom related to the traumatic event.

In a nutshell, the process of EFT is to tap certain acupuncture energy meridians while tuning in on your "problem state". Assuming you are not "psychology reversed" and you tune into and tap through all the various 'aspects" related to this particular negative emotional issue, the negative emotion flattens out or loses it's emotional charge for you. One great side effect to this process is while you will often spontaniously gain a new insight or empowering perspective to any memories associated with the negative emotion. You actually gain a new outlook, insight and/or understanding related to the issue without having to go through the tiresome and often traumatic process of traditional age regression, revivification, insight and forgiveness therapy. Another benefit is the "generalization effect" of EFT. Which means that once you tap through enough aspects related to a particular negative emotion the "generalization effect" tends to expand outward and take care of related issues without directly addressing them.

EFT Often Produces Amazingly Fast and Relatively Painless Results!

Like any model or map of "reality", EFT's model will probably change over time and varies with the perspective of the practitioner. The important thing in my opinion as a "rapid results" hypnotherapist is EFT works quite well for many people, and it often works when other modalities fail to produce results.

While I don't subscribe to the "one size fits all" therapy technique theory and believe the method has to be client centered, I do recognize and appreciate valid, rapid healing modalities and EFT has my vote and has become one of my three primary healing modalities. It is a valuable part of my therapeutic tool set.

EFT is part art, part science and like any art, requires study, application and practice to perfect.

What I like about EFT

Like all effective therapy, sometimes we must incorporate the assistance of a skilled therapist or practitioner in order to get the best outcome. It is often very hard to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps because we are approaching the problem from within the problem producing state. However learning EFT properly is not difficult and often produces amazing results.

I recommend learning it from the originator of the EFT system himself. You can actually download the Official EFT Manual Here or purchase the Complete EFT DVD Training Program Here for a very reasonable price.
